Mountain Pass is a lower elevation gap in a mountain range that allows for easier travel from one side of the mountains to the other. India has some strategic & geographically significant passes . In Himalayan region, major passes are Khardung La, Rohtang Pass, Zoji La, Chang La, Jelep La, and Mana Pass. In the Western Ghats, key passes are Palakkad Gap and Thal Ghat. Eastern Ghats, North-East India has passes like Sela Pass, Bomdi La.
